7. the act of inspiring; quality or state of being inspired.

What inspires a songwriter or a vocalist to put pen to paper or voice to melody? Personally speaking it is anything that makes an impression on me, be it good or bad. With that said, I want to suggest a couple of ideas I use when that inspiration seems to be cloudy or blocked by life situations or experiences.
1. Listen to your favorite song or artist. When I am faced with writer’s block or having difficulty figuring out the chord progression to a hot joint you’re working on. Listen to a song that moves you.
2. Never force creativity. If it’s forced then you compromise the original source idea. I can’t say this one thing enough. Let it go, Let it go, step back, relax and Let it flow.
I don’t know about you writers and producers out there but I’ve found inspiration to be fleeting. So when the moment of inspiration hit you make like a fly catcher and catch it. Who knows whatever it is that inspires your creativity may be your ticket to writing the next great hit song! See you at the top!
